The East Coast region follows the convergence of the Philippine and Eurasian tectonic plates. The land was formed by the movement of the plates along with sea erosion and rivers that flow down steep hills and through deep valleys and terraces.

Due to its location between the Coastal Mountains Range to the east and the Central Mountains Range to the west, and the difference of over 2,000 meters in altitude between the valley and mountain ranges,
